Performance and Purpose

Each year, Ingersoll Rand hosts approximately 200 of its top leaders at its annual leadership conference. The conference proves to be a meaningful opportunity for Ingersoll Rand leaders to come together to share best practices, test conventional thinking, learn from outside experts, and recognize some truly outstanding work. I always leave the conference feeling energized, motivated and focused, but this year, with its theme of Performance with Purpose, I left feeling more inspired than ever before.

I am honored to be part of a company that is a leader in reducing the world’s carbon footprint, ensuring gender parity, and driving solutions to increase access to cooling, food, water and clean air. I believe that one of our greatest accomplishments was when our company determined that sustainability should drive and deliver our performance. Most importantly, I am truly proud of the leading role that Thermo King and Frigoblock play in Ingersoll Rand’s company-wide sustainability efforts.

When I think about Performance with Purpose, I am reminded of the more than 120 years of transport refrigeration experience that Thermo King and Frigoblock represent. We have introduced innovation that has changed the world and helped people around the globe get fresh food and life-saving medicine both safely and reliably. Our brands were founded on purpose, and I am confident that we have the right strategy in place that will allow our team to build on our successful past performance …with continued purpose.

Our experience and innovative solutions will deliver a greater good. There are 795 million people in the world who do not have enough food to eat. One-third of the food produced globally for human consumption is wasted, which creates ~8% of global GHG emissions. We know that more than 25% of food waste can be reduced by applying cold chain technology. And paired with programs like We Move Food, we can help reduce that waste even more by getting this food to the people who need it most.

Thermo King and Frigoblock are a part of the solution, and I see that as our purpose.
