New Systems Highlighted at Distribution Solutions Conference
Bloomington, Minn., Oct. 10, 2013 - Thermo King features reliable, high-performance solutions that help customers comply with new food safety and cargo quality requirements at the 2013 Distribution Solutions Conference held Oct. 14-16 in Orlando, Fla.
Thermo King showcases its most environmentally sensitive diesel trailer temperature control system at the Thermo King booth #1101, and highlights cargo assurance solutions that include: food temperature and door monitoring sensors; a fleet asset management system; and units designed to enable users to easily launch a temperature monitoring program.
“More than ever before, it's critical that customers adhere to the highest transport standards for food quality and safety,” said Doug Lenz, vice president of product management and marketing for Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand. “In this competitive business environment, customers need solutions that deliver on low ownership cost while reducing environmental impact.”
Industry-Leading Transport Refrigeration Unit
The Precedent S-600M transport refrigeration unit featured at the show lowers the total cost of ownership while offering enhanced reliability and reduced fuel costs.
The Precedent S-600M for multi-temperature operations, which will be available for order on Nov. 1, 2013, is the most environmentally sensitive diesel trailer temperature control system that Thermo King offers. This solution was designed to meet changing industry regulations and help food distribution customers achieve sustainability objectives and reduce high fuel costs. The S-600M features a completely new diesel direct electric (DDE) architecture that drives optimum efficiencies and helps lower the overall cost of ownership for food distributors.
Thermo King collaborated with PSA Peugeot Citroën, one of the world's largest diesel engine manufacturers, to develop a diesel engine for the S-600M that meets the most stringent requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Tier IV Final regulations. The engine features emission technologies that exclude the use of a diesel particulate filter in meeting the requirements of the EPA regulations.
Thermo King Showcases Solutions that Help Customers Comply with New Food Safety and Cargo Quality Requirements - 2
The Precedent platform with DDE architecture offers multi-temperature customers flexibility in unit configuration. Customers can now order all Precedent multi-temperature models with Thermo King Smart Power™, which allows the units to be operated off electrical power in stationary applications.
New Cargo Assurance Solutions
Thermo King also exhibits cargo assurance solutions that enable customers to optimize fleet traceability, security and documentation to demonstrate that cargo meets the highest quality and safety standards.
CargoWatch™ Food Safe Temp Sensor provides accurate, independent cargo temperature measurement and recording throughout transport. The sensor is made of food-safe NSF rated stainless steel with an accuracy of +/- 1°C. Up to six sensors can be used per truck or trailer. The CargoWatch Food Safe Temperature Sensor can be connected to TracKing™ for active cargo temperature monitoring.
TracKing™ is a web-based asset management system that allows users to remotely monitor their refrigerated fleets and offers end-to-end traceability, ensuring temperature sensitive cargo is maintained at the right temperature throughout the delivery process. With TracKing, users can remotely pre-cool their trailers, maintain cargo at the desired temperature, prove the refrigeration unit was alarm free and generate proof of delivery reports for accurate record keeping.
Label Logger™ and Label Logger™ Pro enable users to quickly and easily launch a temperature monitoring program by eliminating many of the challenges associated with other options. Advantages include: permanent factory-calibration; a small size which allows the labels to adhere directly to the cargo, an integrated USB connector so no cables are needed, and a universal output which automatically creates a PDF file. Label Logger™ offersstandard food accuracy (+/-0.7°C) and Label Logger™ Pro meets more stringent bio/med/pharma accuracy requirements(+/-0.5°C).
CargoLink™ Wireless Door Sensors help increase security and reduce fuel consumption by monitoring door openings and shutting down the refrigeration unit when the doors are opened. These sensors allow for quicker, more flexible installation and lower maintenance costs than traditional wired door switches. When connected to TracKing, users can enable active monitoring of door opening events for cargo security purposes.
