Minneapolis, Minn., March 25, 2010 - Thermo King announces the TriPace, an all-new electric auxiliary idle reduction and temperature management system. The TriPaceis the first auxiliary power unit (APU) from Thermo King, the industry leader in idle reduction technology, and provides a clean, sustainable choice for those customers looking for APU options.
The TriPace system is designed to maintain comfortable temperature conditions in the truck cab without running an engine. It is a battery-powered solution that uses sophisticated power management technology to optimize energy used. After listening to customer needs and performing extensive field and lab tests, Thermo King designed the TriPace to deliver the following results to customers:
Cost Savings. The TriPace is an electric, battery-based APU system, which means significant fuel savings. Reduced operation of the tractor engine also delivers cost savings on maintenance.
Clean, Quiet Operation.Because no diesel engine is used, the TriPace runs clean and emission-free in cooling mode, and is significantly quieter than engine-based APU systems. As the expert in idle compliance, Thermo King designed the TriPace system to meet anti-idle and anti-emissions regulations nationwide, including California Air Resources Board (CARB) requirements.
Reliable Driver Comfort.Thermo King has drawn on the technology and expertise from its industry-leading TriPac APU system and applied that knowledge to the TriPace, resulting in comfort that drivers have come to expect.
Unmatched Service & Support. The TriPace, system is backed by the Thermo King dealer network, which provides expert installation, factory-certified technicians and genuine OEM parts at more than 200 locations across North America.
"Thermo King continues to deliver innovative solutions to reduce idling for customers," says Dwayne Cowan, APU product manager at Thermo King. "The TriPace will provide optimum system performance, a low life cycle cost and will address environmental concerns."
