EIMSKIP Pleased with Performance of Thermo King's MAGNUM® Unit

Belgium (July 27, 2009) - Established in 1914, EIMSKIP commenced scheduled sailings in 1915 and has been, from the outset, Iceland's largest transportation company. The first scheduled sailings were between Iceland and Denmark, calling the UK en-route. Today the company holds a very strong position in the North Atlantic. EIMSKIP shipping division operates 23 vessels, employs more than 1.500 people, and has an extended reefer logistics network which stretches over 100 operational bases in more than 30 countries. As a skilled transporter of temperature-controlled cargo, equipment reliability, customer service, solid relationships (with customers and vendors) and industry experience all play a role in EIMSKIP's success.

"We know the value of building long-term relationships with customers and vendors," said Leo van Beek, project manager, EIMSKIP Production Management. "We offer services tailored to individual customer needs, and our customers know they can rely on our services to find the most cost-efficient solution. This allows the customer to focus on core activities. Customer service and reliability are the keys to our success, and that's what we like about the Thermo King MAGNUM® reefer unit. We can trust its performance to meet our customers' needs - from its cooling capacity, to its power savings, to its environmental benefits."

The MAGNUM unit was introduced to the industry in 2002, the first reefer unit to incorporate dependable scroll technology. As a result, MAGNUM was lighter, simpler, more powerful, and more energy efficient. It provided a wider range of cargo temperatures and will extend box life. "We ship most commodities frozen," said van Beek. "The MAGNUM unit's power, due to its experienced scroll compressor technology, pulls the box temperature to set point faster and with less energy. This translates to less power consumption and, consequently, less carbon dioxide emissions."

Throughout its seven years in the market, the MAGNUM unit has proven itself time and again and is backed by Thermo King's extensive dealer network. It is the result of Thermo King Corporation's own 60+ years of experience in the transport refrigeration industry. EIMSKIP has plugged into that experience by utilizing dealers and corporate staff with service and operational training to ensure optimum MAGNUM performance.

"We've conducted training for the customer at various locations," said Kay Henze, sales director, Thermo King Global Marine Solutions. "Teaming up with customers and providing solutions is something Thermo King has always strived to do. Like EIMSKIP, we believe in establishing solid relationships to best meet customer needs."
